Wed, 13 November, 2019

Richard Burn, HM Trade Commissioner for China, visited TWI’s headquarters at Granta Park near Cambridge on 9 October.

Mr Burn is one of nine trade commissioners appointed globally by the government to champion British trade with some of the UK’s biggest economic partners.

Mr Burn visited TWI in order to help promote services from the UK to China. He met with Operations Director Mike Russell, Research and Technology Director Paul Woollin and China Programme Manager Lei Xu, who hosted a meeting to offer information on our work in China ahead of a tour of the facilities at TWI’s head office.

The tour included a look at TWI’s laser, fatigue integrity management, friction, electron beam and surfacing capabilities.

Speaking on the visit, Richard Burn said, “It was a pleasure to visit your facility in Cambridge last week: I was delighted to have the opportunity to see what you do at close hand and to learn more about your technology and business.”

He added, “I was very impressed by the range of high-tech welding capabilities you have developed and interested by the unique structure of your business model.”
