Registration now open for Additive Manufacturing Symposium

Fri, 20 September, 2019

The date for TWI’s 4th Annual Additive Manufacturing Symposium has recently been announced as Tuesday 26 November 2019, with this year’s event to be held at AMP Technology Centre in South Yorkshire.

Providing an opportunity for professionals to share and develop technical and scientific knowledge on metal Additive Manufacturing, the event will also offer attendees the chance to tour TWI’s Technology Centre in Yorkshire where our specialist laser AM team are based.

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is the industrial production name for 3D printing, a computer-controlled process that deposits materials (usually in layers) to create three-dimensional objects.

Perfect for the creation of complex geometric shapes, AM is ideal for building bespoke parts and prototypes, as the computer aided design also allows design changes to be implemented quickly and efficiently.

Offering cost savings for high-value parts as well as reductions in material wastage, AM can reduce lead times while also improving strength and durability of parts that are created as a single item rather than being assembled from multiple pieces. AM also allows for unique or replacement parts to be fabricated where the original objects are no longer available.

With the process being widely used in industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, Oil and Gas, and others, this event is designed for technical managers, research and development staff, designers, and production staff who are actively involved in AM, or who have a strong interest in the subject.

Confirmed speakers for the symposium include Prof. Phill Dickens from University of Nottingham and Added Scientific, with more to be added soon.
