TWI has invented a highly disruptive, new sub-surface machining technique called CoreFlow™.
The solid state process is a development of friction stir welding which allows for sub-surface networks to be integrated into structures.
This revolutionary new technology already has potential uses in heat exchangers and cooling systems as well as for integrated fluid management and light-weighting.
Allowing for a range of applications from anti-icing of aeroplane wings and flight control surfaces to heat reduction, hydraulic lubrication, embedding instrumentation, and more, this new technique can be used in a variety of industries.
You can find out more about CoreFlow™ here or you can get in touch with the Friction and Forge Processing section at TWI by sending an email to: coreflow@twi.co.uk
