TWI collaborates on special online journal issue on BS 7910

Tue, 23 April, 2019

TWI is pleased to announce the publication of a virtual special issue of the International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, focusing on the development of the UK standard BS 7910 'Guide to methods for assessing the acceptability of flaws in metallic structures’.

The special issue comprises 14 peer-reviewed papers covering a range of aspects of the standard, from the failure/damage mechanisms addressed by BS 7910 (fracture, fatigue, corrosion and creep) to specialist annexes addressing topics such as residual stress, constraint, flaw interaction, strain-based assessment and NDT. As well as explaining the background to the current edition (published in 2013 and amended in 2015), the papers give a preview of what to expect in the next revision, which is scheduled for publication towards the end of 2019.

The guest editorial team for this issue comprised TWI's Technology Fellow Isabel Hadley, assisted by two guest editors: John Sharples of Wood and independent consultant Henryk Pisarski. All papers and editorial can be viewed online through Science Direct

Isabel will also be presenting information about BS 7910 at the forthcoming IMechE seminar and OMAE 2019.
