Meet the TWI at the World Nuclear Exhibition 

TWI will be exhibiting at the World Nuclear Exhibition on 4-6 November in Paris.

The World Nuclear Exhibition is the world's leading civil nuclear exhibition covering the whole nuclear supply chain. WNE brings together more than 1000 exhibiting companies, 40% of which are international, working in nearly 50 activities covering the entire value chain of the industry.

Rory Lipington - Associate Director of Key Accounts & Sectors

Rory Lipington

Associate Director of Key Accounts & Sectors

Rory leads TWI’s industrial membership and commercial engagement activities across the energy, defence, and advanced manufacturing sectors. With a strong focus on building collaborative partnerships, he works closely with companies to align TWI’s technical expertise with their innovation, safety, and integrity challenges.

Rory is an accomplished business leader and strategist with over 30 years of industry experience in capital equipment in-service support and asset management. In the last 20 years, Rory has been at a senior level, holding directorial positions in operations and sales and as a managing director. During his career, Rory has worked with most of the major UK defence companies, gained awards for achieving operational excellence, and helped companies grow organically.

Sector Manager, Industrial Membership Services

Chris is an experienced manufacturing engineer in a variety of material joining processes relevant to multiple industry sectors.

With a sound knowledge of facilities and expertise at TWI, his role includes management of TWI industrial membership interactions and assisting industry to access TWI’s unique range of member services to benefit their business.

Jon Savage - Sector Manager, Construction & Engineering IMS

Jon Savage

Sector Manager, Construction & Engineering IMS

During Jon Savage's career he has used a number of joining processes including all arc welding technologies, beam, solid state and resistance processes.

Jon has worked for companies including, Rolls-Royce, JCB, Reckitt Benckiser, Aggregate Industries and for the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. Within the role at the AMRC, Jon was managing the welding and cladding group within the nuclear AMRC. He worked alongside companies such as NDA, Sellafield, Westinghouse and AREVA where he provided manufacturing support in welding process and quality development. Prior to this Jon led the Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear Welding Development and was a technical lead at JCB. 

Jon's current role at TWI, as IMS Sector Manager enables him to work with TWI members within industries such as, defence, rail, marine and construction.

Jon Savage's personal titles include: MSc, IEng, IntET(UK), MWeldI, MIET M.AWS

Past projects: Rolls-Royce MCA (multiple projects), BAE Systems (exhaust welding), Lockheed Martin, (SIG, NPI), Aurora and the London Underground (rail wheel projects).

Nathan Hartley - Section Manager, NDT Research & Technology

Nathan Hartley

Section Manager, NDT Research & Technology

Nathan Hartley is an experienced Chartered Engineer and Project Manager with more than 20 years’ experience in the defence, nuclear, energy, manufacturing and non-destructive testing industries. Since joining TWI in 2018 he has managed a variety of complex and high value engineering and research projects with a focus on automation and development of novel NDT techniques. He recently introduced multi-frequency microwave inspection to TWI’s capabilities and has been instrumental in the integration and use of mobile and collaborative robots. He has also overseen the development of a novel, automated acoustic inspection method for the inspection of highly attenuative glass fibre structures. Nathan is also an accomplished NDT practitioner, holding CSWIP Level II qualifications in UT and PAUT (Welds).
