The Welding Institute’s Liverpool branch has undergone a name change to become the Merseyside Branch. Although known as the Liverpool Branch for several years, the change of name comes as a new committee is formed to support members of the Institute based in the local and surrounding area.
The Merseyside Branch held a successful talk on 2 November 2017 exploring the Fabrication and Erection of The Shard at London Bridge. The talk is the first in a series of events that are being planned for the coming year, signalling a renewed interest in welding and joining in the region.
The talk, which was attended by 37 members and non-members, was given by Eur Ing JJ Krancioch BSc CEng MIMMM FWeldI EWE, which was well received.  With the Branch Chairman Stephen Clyne commenting, ‘It was a great night in a great location and not only a fantastic educational evening, but also for networking within the industry.’
Watch out for forthcoming Branch events through the Welding Institute's monthly Branch Bulletin Mailshots and website.
