TWI Experts to Present at IIW Event

Two experts from TWI are presenting and sharing knowledge at the International Webinar for the Performance of Welds under Hydrogen Environments, organised by the International Institute of Welding (IIW) Commission C-XI: Pressure Vessels, Boilers and Pipelines along with the UK’s Forum of Engineering Structural Integrity (FESI) and the China Structural Integrity Consortium (CSIC).

The event, which is taking place on 31 May from 12-16:00 CEST, includes presentations by TWI team leader and principal engineer, Dr Xing Sun and TWI team manager and chartered engineer, Dr Mike Dodge.

Xing is presenting on the topic of the ‘Effect of Hydrogen on Fatigue Performance of Steels’ from 12:15-13:00 and Mike is presenting on the subject of ‘Hydrogen Embrittlement of Subsea Dissimilar Metal Welds’ from 13:45-14:30.

Chaired by Professor Su Jun Wu, Chair of IIW C-XI, Beihang University, Beijing, China, the event will also include opening remarks from Professor Stephan Egerland, Chair of IIW Technical Management Board, Professor Shan-Tung Tu, Chair of CSIC, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China and Professor Peter Flewitt, Director of FESI, University of Bristol, UK.

Along with the two TWI presentations, there will also be:

  • Research on Hydrogen Compatibility of Pipelines: A Review Wenyue Zheng, Beijing University of Science and Technology, China
  • Welding Technology of Hydrogen related Equipment and Pipelines Wuqiang Zhou, China Engineering Construction Welding Association

The event closes with a general discussion around future meetings and seminars related to sub-commission XI-H.
