TWI’s senior project leader for surface, corrosion and interface engineering, Dibakor Boruah is set to present at a webinar dedicated to the FORGE project.
The online event is due to take place on 15 February 2023 from 13:00-14:00 GMT, with Dibakor presenting details of this H2020-funded project.
The FORGE project is considering methods for the optimisation of process parameters to deposit compositionally complex alloy and rare-earth powder on carbon steel substrates using two coating processes; cold spray and laser cladding.
The project team are working to optimise the microstructure of smart coating systems by adjusting the deposition process parameters in order to minimise the presence of defects while improving mechanical properties including wear resistance and toughness.
Visual observation and spectrometric sensor measurements will be used to assess the system capabilities to detect and monitor wear.
