TWI principal project leader for laser technologies, Andy Wilson recently sat down for a discussion with Hamamatsu Photonics to discuss how their laser products are helping to solve the challenges of our Industrial Members.
With over 30 years of polymer joining experience, TWI has been working alongside industries ranging from aerospace to automotive and medical to textiles to solve their engineering, materials and joining technologies challenges.

Andy’s discussion with Hamamatsu demonstrates this through his explanation of the benefits afforded by their laser technology, including a new kind of polymer temperature monitoring at the weld interface that provides greater control over the weld set-up and output. This makes it ideal for applications in the medical, automotive, aerospace and textile industries, among others, even for joining clear plastic parts without clouding.
