SheaRIOS Project Webinars Deliver WTB Inspection Knowledge

Tue, 15 March, 2022

TWI hosted two free-to-attend webinars about the SheaRIOS project, detailing the latest advances in the development of a robotic on-blade inspection solution for wind turbine blades (WTB).

The webinars, ‘SheaRIOS – In-Situ Wind Turbine Blade Inspection,’ included results from deployment trials at the CRES Demonstration Wind Farm - Park of Energy Awareness in Keratea, Attikis, helping to demonstrate the improved safety, efficiency and reduced costs associated with the inspection solution.

Speakers and topics covered at the event included a welcome and an overview of the SheaRIOS project by TWI principal project leader, Martin Bourton, as well as a wind energy overview from EDF Energy’s fleet chief mechanical engineer, Andy Morris.

TWI senior project leader James Kern, IKnowHow technical manager Makis Pachos, DEKRA Visatec GmbH project engineer Deniz Petrecca, WRS Cathodic Protection director Jan Seton, and CRES mechanical engineer Eftihia Tzen united to deliver information on the project performance trials before questions and discussions rounded out the event.

The event was held on two different days, allowing more people the opportunity to attend, with 147 people joining across the two days.

Anyone who missed the webinar, including wind turbine owners and operators, third party maintenance providers, and inspection engineers, can see the virtual event below:
