Latest MAREWIND Project Newsletter Released

Mon, 08 August, 2022

The MAREWIND project consortium have released their third newsletter, allowing you to keep up to date with the project’s progress.

This latest newsletter provides an overview of the latest results, including the completion of two project milestones.

MAREWIND began in December 2020 and the past 18 months have seen online project meetings among the consortium partners and a great deal of technological progress as the consortium work to deliver vital solutions for the next generation of offshore wind energy and tidal power assets.

The project partners are solving challenges related to materials, coatings and multi-material architectural performance in harsh offshore environments. By improving durability and recyclability while reducing maintenance requirements, the project is contributing to a more economic and sustainable model of the offshore sector.

These innovations will also contribute to meeting EU climate targets while creating new job opportunities in industry.

This latest newsletter includes a short video explaining the project (which you can see below) as well as in-depth updates on the development of an anticorrosion coating for key metallic elements, the selection of the wind turbine blade coatings for trials, the development of a fouling-preventing coating for different submerged offshore structure materials, developing predictive modelling and SHM tools, testing initial epoxy-SiO2 resin formulations, and more!

You can stay updated with the latest developments in the MAREWIND project by subscribing to the newsletter, here.

The MAREWIND project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 952960
