FORGE Project Newsletter Launched

Tue, 13 December, 2022

A newsletter has been launched for the FORGE project, of which TWI is a project partner.

The project has brought together a variety of universities, SMEs and research organisations from across Europe to develop cost-effective protective coatings for use in energy intensive industries such as aluminium, cement, ceramics and steel.

These materials are subject to damage from corrosion, erosion, hydrogen embrittlement and surface oxidation and the FORGE project consortium are developing highly protective coatings to solve these challenges.

The coatings, which are based on novel Compositionally Complex Materials and include both metal alloys (CCAs) and ceramics (CCCs), are designed to deliver the required hardness, chemical stability and gas barrier properties for challenging applications.

These coatings will have a positive impact on costs, energy efficiencies and the environment through a reduction in CO2 emissions.

You can find out more about the project at the dedicated FORGE project website and keep up with progress by subscribing to the newsletter by visiting this link.

The FORGE project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 958457
