We held an online event on 18 May 2022 called, ‘From O&G to Offshore Wind Turbine Structures – Fatigue Design Considerations.’
The webinar, which was based on a presentation given at the Structural Integrity 2021 conference (held online, 15-16 November 2021), provided an insight into how fatigue design standards have developed over time.
Since much of the data used as the basis for the current recommendations was generated from structures and components from the oil and gas industry, it also highlighted the differences that should be considered when carrying out fatigue design of oil and gas structures compared to offshore wind structures.
The webinar, presented by TWI fatigue integrity management consultant Carol Johnston, also described the research needed to make fatigue design documents more suitable for offshore wind.
