CoCaCo2la Webinar to Discuss Carbon Management for Net Zero

Wed, 09 November, 2022

We are pleased to announce that we are holding a webinar related to the collaborative CoCaCo2la project on 1 December 2022.

The event, ‘Decarbonisation vis-à-vis Carbon Management - CoCaCo2la,’ will see us joined by speaker, Dr M. Magdalena Ramirez-Corredores, Distinguished Research Scientist at the Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho, USA.

Dr Ramirez-Corredores will discuss how to close the enormous gap between current CO2 emissions (Gton scale), and capture and utilization (Mton scale) using strategies based on multiple technologies.

While these strategies need to be mindful of economic, energy and environmental boundary conditions to create a sustainable circular economy, there are also possible changes in culture and social behaviour to bear in mind too.

The CoCaCo2la project aims to assist the drive towards Net Zero by converting CO2 to ethylene on demand using flexible, tuneable CO2 electrolysers. This converted ethylene can then be used for other processes, such as polyethylene production.

The benefits of this project include delivering flexibility to the grid, generating value-added chemicals, reducing CO2 emissions and providing benefits for the environment and industry.

The CoCaCo2la project has received £518,777.19 in funding from BEIS under the UK ACT ERA-NET EC GA 691712. This funding has been made available from the Government’s £1 Billion Net Zero Innovation provide key innovation to develop technologies needed to tackle climate change.
