Tyler London Awarded IMA Fellowship

Mon, 01 February, 2021

TWI’s Numerical Modelling and Optimisation section manager, Tyler London has been awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA). Prior to joining TWI in 2010, Tyler obtained an MSc in Mathematical Modelling from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Mathematics from Tufts University. At TWI, his work focuses on computational engineering; applying mathematical models to engineering challenges from a range of topics such as additive manufacturing, structural integrity and material modelling.

IMA Fellowship is granted to those with a senior professional standing based on demonstrable achievements and competence in the development or application of mathematics and research in the field.

In order to qualify, Fellows are required to have at least seven years’ experience and must hold a senior management or leadership position involving the use of or training in mathematics.

The IMA is a professional and learned society for qualified and practicing mathematicians, with a membership of over 5,000. IMA members come from all sectors and the institute exists to support the advancement of mathematical knowledge and its applications, as well as promoting and enhancing mathematical culture in the United Kingdom and elsewhere for the public good.

Fellowship to the IMA is conferred by the institute’s membership committee, which is comprised of a panel of experts from a range of professional backgrounds who, along with Chartered designations, hold the fellow grade themselves.

We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Tyler on his Fellowship.
