TWI to Hold Electron Beam Texturing and Surfi Sculpt Webinar

Thu, 21 November, 2019

TWI is inviting engineers, designers, manufacturers and users of electron beam machines and scanning electron microscopes to attend a free webinar on 28 November 2019. The webinar will begin at 3pm UK time and provide updates on the Electron Beam Surfi-Sculpt® process.

Suitable for anyone working in fields related to surface modification and improving functional performance, the webinar will provide a greater understanding of electron beam texturing and Surfi-Sculpt including an insight into two case studies containing industrially-relevant test data for heat exchangers and orthopaedic implants. The webinar will also offer an insight into new control software that is being developed for both processes.

Both electron beam texturing and Surfi-Sculpt are transformative surface modification technologies as they are neither additive nor subtractive but instead rely on a power beam to redistribute existing materials.

The webinar will be led by TWI’s electron beam principal project leader, Tom Pinto. Tom has been involved in the development of Surfi-Sculpt through a series of projects and is currently studying for his Engineering Doctorate at the University of Warwick, with a focus on ‘Using Surfi-Sculpt® for Next Generation Orthopaedic Implants.’
