Automated Inspection Brazing Cobot

TWI has worked on an automated inspection brazing cobot with the development of an algorithm for human-robot learning control.

This control mechanism manages the collaborative brazing filler metal deposition process, improving the accuracy and efficiency of the brazing process.

The cobot is equipped with a laser scanner and vision system observes the shape and geometry of the parts in order to generate a path plan to deposit brazing filler metal during the pre and post inspection phases of the brazing process.

Automated inspection of parts in pre and post brazing will be analysed to establish a link between the brazed part quality and deposition process parameters, including the brazing filler metal amount, contact angle with assemblies, and pasting speed.

The aim of the automated inspection brazing cobot is to minimise downtime and reduce human process errors while reducing associated maintenance costs.
