Large Scale Laser DED for Additive Manufacturing, Coatings and Component Repair

TWI’s UK-leading laser cladding research and development facility has commissioned a first of its kind Trumpf TruLaser Cell 7040, capable of large scale additive manufacturing, coatings and repair. This video highlights key attributes including a 4m x 2m x 1.5m work envelope, fully interpolated 7 axis nozzle and substrate manipulation, a Renishaw touch probe, a dual core light cable and disc laser giving automatic spot size adjustment from 0.7 to 7mm. All of the above offering unparalleled nozzle precision and accuracy and part referencing/scanning.

The acquisition of the 7040 was made possible by funding received from Innovate UK (Ref: 113164).
