TWI is pleased to announce that we are hosting a ‘FORGE’ project webinar dedicated to wear-resistant compositionally complex alloy (CCA) coatings.
The online event, ‘Novel Compositionally Complex Alloy (CCA) Coatings for Enhanced Wear Resistance,’ is taking place on 29 May between 13:00 and 14:00 GMT.
About CCAs
CCAs, also known as high-entropy alloys or medium-entropy alloys, have been gaining interest in industry for their tailored properties, such as exceptional tensile strength, ductility, fracture toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance across a range of temperatures.
These properties are due to the blending of various elements without a dominant one, which allows these materials to withstand harsh environments and conditions.
FORGE and CCAs
The EU-funded FORGE project has seen the development of novel CCAs with three key performance targets; CO2 corrosion resistance, H2 embrittlement resistance, and wear resistance.
This event will focus on the novel CCA developed for wear resistance, with an investigation of how the CCA deposition parameters were developed, how the composition was designed, the microstructural evolution and solidification behaviour in CCA coatings, and how the coatings performed against wear in simulated environments.
Speakers
The webinar will feature three speakers:
- Dibakor Boruah, Senior Project Leader - Surface, Corrosion, and Interface Engineering
- Deepak Sharma, Research Associate, Materials Innovation Centre (MATIC)
- Alfonso Navarro López, Industrial Engineer and Materials Scientist, OCAS N.V. (OnderzoeksCentrum voor de Aanwending van Staal)

The FORGE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant agreement 958457).
