The Welding Institute has been supporting engineering professionals for a century and, with over 60 years of working in welding metallurgy and welding engineering, David Harvey PhD AWeldI is one of our most experienced Professional Members.
David originally became a Member of The Welding Institute in 1959, while working as a metallurgical apprentice at International Combustion Ltd in Derby.
We took some time to find out about his career in engineering and joining The Welding Institute, including how his uncle inspired his journey into engineering.
David also opened up about his fondest memories of being a Member and how his membership of The Institute has helped in his career.
He also provided some words of advice to his younger self, noting how his career has seen him save “countless millions” for industry as a “national asset in wealth creation.”
