Find Out About the Land Speed Record at Exclusive Event

The Eastern Counties Branch of The Welding Institute have teamed up with Bloodhound LSR for an in-person event dedicated to a new push to break the world land speed record.

The free event is open to all and is taking place on 11 October 2023 at 17:00 (UK Time) at the Newmarket Academy, which is just around 15 miles from the TWI headquarters near Cambridge.

About The Bloodhound Land Speed Record Project

Bloodhound LSR, formerly known as Bloodhound SSC, have been developing an innovative arrow-shaped car since 2008 in the hope of breaking the land speed record.

The British-made vehicle is powered by a jet engine, with plans to also fit an additional rocket engine, has been designed to reach supersonic speeds.

Tests have already seen the Bloodhound LSR vehicle reach 628mph in South Africa, with the design set to reach a top speed of 1,000mph (1,609 km/h).

What to Expect

This event will explore the evolution of land speed record cars up to the present day, including a look at the engineering challenges that have been overcome to build Bloodhound LSR. Not only will the talk reveal the stories behind testing the car, but attendees will also be able to see a full replica of the Bloodhound LSR rocket car.
