TWI Expert to Present on Additive Manufacturing Standard

Fri, 07 February, 2020

TWI Project Leader, David Griffiths is set to provide a presentation at a three-day meeting in Italy regarding the use of additively manufactured (AM) metallic materials within the oil and gas industries.

TWI has been supporting the development of a new API 20S standard, ‘Qualification of Additively Manufactured Metallic Materials for Use in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries.’

This new standard aims to specify requirements for design, process qualification, production, marking and documentation of additively manufactured metallic materials used in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

TWI’s expertise in powder bed and direct energy deposition AM technologies and materials has been deployed to support those in the oil, gas and AM industries.

David’s presentation will detail the need for inclusion of AM materials in the NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 Standard, ‘Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries: Materials for use in H2S-Containing Environments in Oil and Gas Production.’

The presentation will take place on the first day of the event, which is due to run from 11-13 February, 2020 at the University of Pavia in Pavia, Italy.
