The final promotional video of the collaborative project FIBRESHIP is now live.
FIBRESHIP focuses on the use of composite materials for the construction of large-length commercial vessels over approximately 50m length.
The current market and construction challenges are addressed within the project activities to make the building of such vessels feasible.
TWI is very proud to be part of a multidisciplinary consortium of 18 partners from 11 European countries.
Focussing on life cycle sustainability study of the vessel, TWI has developed a life cycle management decision-support-tool to evaluate the performance of the vessel in terms of its environmental impact, life cycle cost, and risk profile.
As joining experts, TWI has also developed a disbond-on-demand for adhesively bonded composite joints that will simplify disassembly and reuse or recycling of the composites at the end of the vessel’s life.
The project has received funding from European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement number 723360.
