TWI lead failure investigation expert, chartered polymer and adhesive engineer, Dr Farshad Salamat-Zadeh has been awarded Fellowship of The Welding Institute.
Farshad has more than 24 years B2B, consultancy and project management experience, dealing with all aspects of materials engineering, joining and manufacturing issues related to automotive, transport, oil and gas, aerospace, defence, household goods, medical and other industries. He is the holder of a BSc honours degree in Polymer Engineering, an MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Systems and a PhD in Joining Technology.
Farshad has hands-on experience with polymer processing, adhesive bonding, plastic welding, product development, problem solving, diagnostic and failure investigations of composites and other non-metallic components/structures.
He has also helped to develop and deliver a number of training courses, including ‘Welding of Moulded Plastic Components,’ ‘Adhesive Bonding Technology’ and ‘Polymer Science and Technology.’
Over the last six years, Farshad has mentored a number of PhD and EngD researchers to successful completion and has also delivered many presentations related to adhesive bonding, surface treatment, and plastic welding as well as weld quality inspection and failure investigation.
