TWI Represented at Standards Meeting in Atlanta

Wed, 04 December, 2019

Chi Lee from TWI’s Asset Integrity Management team was in Atlanta for the 2019 Fall Refining and Equipment Standards Meeting from 18-21 November 2019.

Chi represented TWI at the API 581 committee on Risk-Based Inspection, where he presented a talk on the subject of corrosion under insulation.

The four-day event included an array of technical standards committee meetings covering refining and chemical process equipment.

There was also an API / AFPM operating practices symposium and a networking reception including tabletop exhibits.

Also invited to the meeting was TWI Technology Fellow, Isabel Hadley, who undertook a diplomatic mission to liaise between the API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 and BS 7910/BS 7608 committees at a meeting of the API/ASME standards body. The US committee is currently finishing editing a new edition of the API/ASME fitness for service procedure API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, which is due for publication next year.

Isabel gave a presentation on the UK committee's progress towards BS 7910:2019, and it was agreed that the BS 7910, R6 (UK nuclear integrity procedure), and API/ASME committees should continue to liaise with each other.
