The Welding Institute’s Teesside and Northumbria Branches are supporting the Big Bang Fair, which is being held 9-10 October 2019 in Sunderland.
The fair is the largest celebration of engineering opportunities for young people in the North East.
Thousands of 9-14 year olds are expected to attend the two-day event at the Beacon of Light in Sunderland.
The Big Bang Fair is a collaboration between national and regional businesses who aim to help close the skills gap for engineering in the UK by providing access to real hands-on activities.
The fair will include talks and demonstrations designed to help promote engineering to a new generation. The event is split into specific zones covering different industries from aerospace and automotive to construction, digital technology and pharmaceuticals.
The Welding Institute’s Teesside and Northumbria Branches will share a stand at the fair, where young people will be able to find out more about Membership and also engage in some engineering-based activities.
