Event Delivered At Automotive Research Association of India

Thu, 31 January, 2019

In light of TWI’s recent Memorandum of Understanding with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), a two-day workshop on Automotive Joining was held in Pune, India, on the 14-15 January, 2019.

The event, which took place at ARAI’s Forging Division, was attended by 28 representatives of several key companies from the automotive sector, including TATA Motors, TATA Steel, and Mercedes, and supply chain companies. Also in attendance was a delegate from Pune University, and an engineer from ARAI.

The interactive course was primarily delivered, jointly, by TWI’s Arc Welding Project Leader, Marcello Consonni, and Automotive Programme Manager, Sullivan Smith. There was also a session on Electron Beam Welded Transition Forgings from Industry Sector Manager, Chris Wiseman.

Certification was provided to the attendees following an examination at the end of the course, and the workshop generated several technical enquiries and interest in TWI Membership.

Additional discussions were held to discuss a potential student exchange programme and further activities within the future relationship between TWI and ARAI.

This event was an excellent showcase for TWI and supported our evolving relationship with ARAI, an important and influential industry / government body in India.
