TWI Innovation Network Partners Benefit from TWI GTC Growth

Wed, 21 September, 2022

TWI Innovation Network (TWIIN) Members can now benefit from the growing presence of TWI Global Technology Centre (GTC) with a view to forming links with, and establishing a foot-hold in, the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) region. TWI GTC was setup in Singapore in early 2021, as part of TWI’s extensive network of overseas subsidiaries, to provide a collaborative gateway for technology innovation and new product / system / service development between ASEAN companies and organisations, and their counterparts in the UK, Europe and the Middle East

In recent developments, TWI GTC is pleased to report that it has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs); one with Cutech and the other with WiserSense.

Cutech has its headquarters in Singapore, and branches in countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Malaysia and Indonesia. It provides inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) services, IT and software consultancy services and engineering products to industrial, commercial and Government clients in the marine, oil and gas, petrochemical, power and process sectors. Cutech and TWI GTC are combining their expertise and experience in relation to the use of advanced NDT solutions and robotic systems for the inspection of pipelines, heat-exchangers, storage tanks and other engineering assets. This will encompass opportunity assessment and marketing scanning, research and development (R&D) projects leading to commercialisation of new products and processes, and delivery of client-tailored, advanced inspection services.

Multi-national company WiserSense is headquartered in Turkey, with an office in the UK, and has branches and shareholders in various parts of the globe. The company offers an end-to-end, industry 4.0 enabled, smart machine health monitoring solution for factories that can visualise and track performance as well as remotely measure and provide early detection of faults. When applied in smart factory and other environments, the system can lead to increased production and a reduction in downtime, improvements in quality and operational efficiency, and better control of maintenance and energy costs. WiserSense is active in sectors including oil and gas, marine, automotive, manufacturing and building management.

With the signing of the MoU, WiserSense and TWI GTC are aiming to expand the capabilities of the WiserSense health monitoring system, through collaborative R&D with new partners and the commercialisation of novel technologies, for application in engineering assets such as pipelines, motors, pumps, compressors, cooling systems and heat-exchangers.

Tat-Hean Gan, Director of Innovation and Skills at TWI, explains “ TWI GTC assists companies of all sizes to maximise their potential and facilitate business growth by providing conventional solutions and more innovative approaches to help solve technical, industrial and operational challenges.” “With Singapore being a technologically advanced country, it offers great opportunity for collaborative working models that can benefit both businesses in the ASEAN region, and TWIIN and TWI Industrial Members companies.”
