New Training Course: Research Proposal Concept Development

Wed, 30 March, 2022

For companies and organisations seeking to enter, or become more active in, the area of engineering / technology based project proposal submissions to public funding calls – the TWI Innovation Network (TWIIN) has created a new, online training course – designed to teach attendees research concept development skills for future applications to the Horizon Europe (HE) funding programme.

The first ‘Research Proposal Concept Development for Horizon Europe Thematic Calls’ training course takes place on 28-29 April 2022 over two half days, and is ideal for project leaders and researchers from the private sector, higher education institutions, RTOs and other research-performing organisations. It is suited to both those who are experienced in concept development but feel they would benefit from a refresher, and those whose knowledge is more minimal but would like to expand their capabilities.

With a focus on HE thematic calls under Pillar 2: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, the course will provide:

  • An introduction to the EU’s HE funding programme
  • Guidance on how to read thematic calls
  • Alignment of research concepts to thematic calls
  • Tips on expert evaluator expectations
  • An exploration of the building blocks for concept development including considerations for key partners, use cases and technology readiness levels
  • Practical examples

It will explore theoretical aspects as well as well as integrate a number of practical examples and group exercises to deliver a high-quality offering. At the end of the course, attendees will be able to make informed decisions on whether to progress a research proposal concept further and invest in writing an application for submission to a HE funding call.

The course fee is £500+VAT for TWI industrial Members and TWIIN Members, and £625+VAT for non-Members. Register online to book a place – maximum number of delegates 12, on a first come first served basis. For more information, please email to: info@twi-innovation-network.com.

James Foden, Section Manager, Technology Innovation Management at TWI said “TWI has a very strong, demonstrable track record of success in the public funding arena, supporting, and working in collaboration with, its Industrial Member companies, Innovation Centres, TWI Innovation Network Subscriber companies, and SME and RTO partners.” “Therefore, course attendees can be confident that their time will be put to good use, and that they will take away skills that will aid them in building stronger research concepts for the EU Framework Programme, Horizon Europe.”
