NSIRC PhD Supervisor John Wintle Honoured by IMechE

John Wintle - TWI Technology Fellow

NSIRC Industrial Supervisor and TWI Technology Fellow, Dr. John Wintle has been honoured by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).with the Donald Julius Groen Prize. 

The award was presented to John in recognition of his work related to pressure equipment, stating his “committed and long-standing contribution to the pressure equipment community, consistently upholding exceptionally high standards in both industry and academia.”

On receiving the award, Dr. Wintle said, “I regard it as a great privilege to have won this award and feel honoured by it. I thank my colleagues for their encouragement and support over the years as well as the Pressure Group Systems board for nominating me.”

John join TWI in 1997, conducting valuable studies correlated to the management of ageing plants, related standards and professional committees.

All NSIRC students have both an academic supervisor provided by their university, as well as an industry supervisor provided through their PhD sponsor.

This combination allows for high level academia, whilst maintaining a focus towards industrial impact.
