Berenika Syrek atttends world’s largest corrosion conference

Mon, 08 April, 2019

NSIRC PhD student Berenika Syrek presented her research to world leading experts at the Corrosion 2019 (NACE International) Conference on 24th – 28th March.

The conference, which took place in Nashville (Tennessee), welcomes over 6,000 corrosion engineers, scientists, researchers, technicians, asset owners, inspectors, and other professionals from over 60 countries across the globe.

Extending over five days, the conference is packed with technical education and knowledge exchange, along with opportunities to connect with industry experts and peers focused on the prevention and mitigation of corrosion worldwide.

Berenika had the opportunity to present during the oil and gas coating technology session on the second day of the conference. Her paper was titled “Thermally sprayed coatings for corrosion protection of offshore structures operating in submerged and splash zone conditions”.

Berenika said, “Attending Corrosion 2019 was a fantastic opportunity to promote my work and get insight into state-of-the-art corrosion mitigation methods. Getting constructive feedback and comments on the usefulness and importance of my research has increased my confidence as a young researcher. These experiences, coupled with many opportunities for networking in the vivid ambience of Nashville, made the conference an unforgettable experience”.

All NSIRC PhD students are encouraged to attend industry conferences in order to build on their skills through experience. For more information, or to speak to Berenika about her research, please contact enquiries@nsirc.co.uk.
