TWI India Delivers CPD Workshop for IBR Competent Persons

Thu, 23 July, 2026

TWI India successfully conducted a one-day online workshop on 17 July 2026 as part of the Continual Professional Development (CPD) programme for IBR Competent Persons, supporting ongoing competency development in line with Regulation 4-J(4)(iv)(f) of the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), 1950.

The interactive webinar brought together Competent Persons from across India for a day of technical learning, regulatory updates, and knowledge sharing. Designed to strengthen professional competence and support compliance with evolving industry requirements, the workshop covered key aspects of boiler regulations, inspection practices, documentation, and remnant life assessment.

The programme commenced with an opening address by Shri Sandeep Sadanand Kumbhar, Technical Advisor, Central Boiler Board (CBB), who highlighted the importance of continual professional development in maintaining high standards of boiler safety, inspection, and regulatory compliance.

The technical sessions were led by Partha Brahma, who delivered comprehensive presentations on the Boiler Act 2025 and related Rules, documentation and compliance requirements through the correct use of IBR Forms, and the role of Competent Persons during various inspection stages of boiler manufacturing, with particular reference to Appendix J of the IBR.

The workshop concluded with an insightful session on the Basics of Remnant Life Assessment (RLA), presented by Dr R. J. Pardikar, providing participants with an overview of the principles and significance of assessing the remaining service life of boilers and pressure equipment.

To encourage active engagement throughout the programme, interactive quizzes were conducted after each major technical session, reinforcing key learning outcomes and providing participants with an opportunity to assess their understanding of the topics covered. A dedicated question-and-answer session at the end of the workshop enabled attendees to discuss practical challenges and clarify technical queries with the experts.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, TWI India continues to support the professional development of engineering and inspection personnel by delivering high-quality technical training that promotes safety, compliance, and excellence across the boiler and pressure equipment industry.
