IIW Diploma of International Engineer (IWE)

This qualification is suitable for personnel with comprehensive technical knowledge, where full knowledge is required for the planning, executing and supervising of all tasks and responsibilities in welding fabrication.

IIW Diploma of International Engineer (IWE) consists of 4 modules and in order to get certified as an engineer, candidates need to successfully complete all 4 modules. The modules can be taken in any order within 3 years but Fabrication and Application module is typically done as the last module.

What are the entry requirements for the engineer level?

There are two paths for entry to the IIW Diploma qualifications. With pre-assessment and without pre-assessment and whichever path you choose, CV and certificates must be presented for verification.

If you need to attend the pre-assessment, you shall meet the criteria below:

  • Hold CSWIP Welding Inspector certificate OR
  • Technical Certificate Level 2 issued by a Medium technical school OR
  • Non-Technical Certificate Level 2 or 3 with four years of job professional experience including job experience defined in the IWS Guideline in welding related activities OR
  • Secondary school education with at least 5 years of job professional experience including job experience defined in the IWS Guideline in welding related activities and minimum age of 30 years. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of the relevant topics for learning and understanding welding technology. This knowledge must be equivalent to the Level 2 Technical Certificate.

Those who meet the criteria below can register on the course without pre-assessment:

  • CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector OR
  • Technical Certificate Level 3 (Advanced Certificate in Welding) issued by a Medium or Higher technical school.
