Practical Welding Technology

 

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for welding co-ordinators (ISO 14731). Those working on getting the specialist certificate, can be exempted from this module if they can demonstrate practical experience on the welding processes.

What will you learn?

The course covers the fundamentals of welding including the following topics:

  • MIG/MAG – The effects of different shielding gases and using different modes of metal transfer.
  • MMA – The use of basic, rutile and cellulosic electrodes and the effects of polarity on welding.
  • TIG – The effects of gas purging and the use of pulse welding current.
  • Gas Welding – Different flame types and the effect of nozzle sizes.
  • Testing of welding joints.
