Women in Engineering Case Study: Ms. Ploypailin Khomaroon

Tue, 23 June, 2026

Every year, International Women in Engineering Day recognises the achievements of women who are shaping the future of engineering and inspiring the next generation of professionals. At TWI Thailand, we are proud to support women in advancing their careers through internationally recognised training and certification programmes that build confidence, competence, and opportunities.

One such inspiring example is Ms. Ploypailin Khomaroon, who successfully completed the CSWIP 3.0 Visual Welding Inspector course under the Southeast Asia Skills Enhancement Programme (SEASEP).

Driven by a desire to expand her knowledge of visual welding inspection and strengthen her ability to identify welding defects, Ms. Ploypailin enrolled in the programme after receiving a recommendation from a colleague who had previously benefited from the training.

Reflecting on her experience, she shared that the course significantly enhanced her practical inspection skills and improved her effectiveness in the workplace. Through the CSWIP 3.0 Visual Welding Inspector training, she gained valuable technical knowledge that she can now apply directly to inspection activities, helping to improve the quality and reliability of her work.

In addition to technical competence, Ms. Ploypailin also completed the IOSH Working Safely course as part of the programme. The training strengthened her understanding of workplace safety, increasing her awareness of potential hazards and encouraging safer practices when working in high-risk environments. This enhanced safety mindset contributes not only to her personal well-being but also to the safety culture within her organisation.

For Ms. Ploypailin, certification represents more than professional recognition. She believes that earning the CSWIP 3.0 certificate has strengthened both her personal credibility and her company’s reputation. By including certified qualifications in project proposals, organisations can provide clients with greater confidence in their capabilities, improving competitiveness and increasing opportunities for business success. The knowledge gained through certification also enables her to deliver stronger technical reports and higher-quality services to clients.

Looking ahead, Ms. Ploypailin remains committed to continuous professional development. While the CSWIP 3.0 certification currently meets the demands of her role, she aspires to further advance her expertise in the future by pursuing the CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector qualification.

Her journey demonstrates the important role that training, certification, and lifelong learning play in empowering women within the engineering industry. By investing in skills development, women engineers can strengthen their technical expertise, enhance workplace safety, and create greater opportunities for career progression.

This International Women in Engineering Day, TWI Thailand celebrates the achievements of women like Ms. Ploypailin Khomaroon and recognises their contributions to engineering excellence across the region. Through programmes such as SEASEP, TWI Thailand remains committed to supporting the development of skilled engineering professionals and creating pathways for more women to thrive in technical careers.
