For Mr. Autimanon Reangsamut, a significant turning point in his career journey came in 2024, while he was in his second year of university. He was awarded a full scholarship under the South East Asia Skills Enhancement Programme (SEASEP), giving him the opportunity to undertake two internationally recognised training programmes: CSWIP 3.0 Visual Welding Inspector and IOSH Working Safely.
The training provided Autimanon with an opportunity to move beyond theoretical learning and develop practical, industry-relevant knowledge. Through the CSWIP 3.0 programme, he strengthened his understanding of welding inspection, including joint types, common welding defects, penetration depth and international welding terminology. The IOSH Working Safely course complemented this technical knowledge by developing his awareness of workplace health and safety practices.
With dedication and perseverance, Autimanon successfully passed both examinations and earned internationally recognised certificates.
Applying Knowledge Beyond the Classroom
The value of the training extended beyond the examinations. During his final year of university, Autimanon was able to apply the visual welding inspection knowledge gained through the SEASEP programme to his final-year project.
The training gave him greater confidence when explaining and defending his project, allowing him to draw on his understanding of welding quality and inspection principles when responding to technical questions.
This experience demonstrated how industry-focused training can complement academic education and help students develop the confidence to apply technical knowledge to real-world challenges.
Turning Qualifications into Career Opportunities
Following graduation, Autimanon entered the workforce as a Welding Staff member at an automotive parts manufacturer.
His combination of academic education, welding inspection knowledge and internationally recognised certifications helped distinguish his profile as a fresh graduate. During job interviews, his technical training attracted strong interest from employers and supported his transition from university into professional employment.
The qualifications continued to contribute to his career development. Recently, Autimanon achieved another important milestone by securing a new position as a Product Engineer at an industrial manufacturing plant.
The new role represents a significant step forward in his professional journey, providing him with greater career opportunities and a steady income while enabling him to contribute towards his family’s financial stability and quality of life.
"SEASEP Programme not only imparts world-class knowledge, but serves as a bridge of opportunity, elevating quality of life, bringing financial stability to families, and accelerating career growth."
Looking Ahead
In his new role, Autimanon plans to apply his visual inspection expertise directly on the production line. He also hopes to share basic inspection knowledge with welders and other team members, helping to strengthen awareness of welding quality within the workplace.
Looking further ahead, he intends to maintain his CSWIP 3.0 certification and pursue the IOSH Managing Safely course. By developing his knowledge of advanced risk assessment and workplace safety, he aims to build the skills required to progress towards a future leadership role within the industrial sector.
Building Futures Through Skills Development
Autimanon’s journey demonstrates how access to industry-relevant technical education can help students transition from academic learning into meaningful employment.
Through the SEASEP Programme, he gained not only technical knowledge and internationally recognised qualifications, but also the confidence to apply those skills in academic and professional settings.
From a university student receiving his first industry certifications to progressing into a Product Engineer role, Autimanon’s story reflects the potential of skills development to create opportunities, strengthen careers and support families.
SEASEP continues to connect aspiring professionals across South East Asia with opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for the future of industry.
