Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) Data Interpretation

This course is designed for professionals involved in assessing weld acceptance or rejection using automated ultrasonic testing (AUT) systems. 
Important Note: Inspectors without BS EN ISO 9712 Level 2 certification in ultrasonic inspection must review the CSWIP documentation before enrolling.

This comprehensive training covers: 

  • Phased Array Technique: Advantages, and limitations. 
  • Pipe Wizard Overview: An introduction to its applications. 
  • Data Interpretation: Using RD Tech Viewer software to analyse results from pipe girth weld inspections.
  • Record Auditing: Reviewing and assessing AUT data

This training programme aligns with the BS EN ISO 9712 standard and concludes with a certification examination.

By the end of the course, you will be able to: 

  • Accurately report weld conditions based on AUT data. 
  • Distinguish defects from geometric features. 
  • Evaluate AUT records against specifications. 
  • Assess calibration records effectively. 
  • Fulfill the CSWIP syllabus requirements.

What else should I know?

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for CSWIP AUT certification, candidates must hold BS EN ISO 9712 UT certification (e.g., PCN or CSWIP). 
Inspectors without BS EN ISO 9712 Level 2 certification must complete the CSWIP UT Welds Level 2 General Paper (40 multiple-choice questions) in addition to the AUT Data Interpretation examination. 

Please note: No additional UT training will be provided on the course.

 The minimum required duration of training, which includes both theoretical and practical elements, is:

  • Level 2 - 40 hours

 The minimum duration for experience prior to or following success in the qualification examination is:

  • Level 2 - 3 months
