As you should be aware, most CSWIP certificates have a validity of five years. However, with adequate documented experience, you can renew that certificate for another five years (Click Here). Nevertheless, as you approach your tenth year (six months before the expiry date of your certificate), an online application must be submitted (Click Here); once you receive confirmation that you are eligible to undertake your ten-year recertification exam, it is time to start studying for the examination.

The Refresher package is designed for anyone who needs to prepare for their ten-year renewal examination of CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector OR CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector.

 

What does the package include?

The all-inclusive refresher package for CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector OR CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector consists of; 60 days of access to TWI's Virtual Academy (e-learning), with a half-day, face-to-face practical training, which includes Q&A session with the lecturer before the exam.

What is eLearning like?

The eLearning refresher course is developed for candidates who wish to review the theories of the course before 10-year renewal examinations or re-taking a failed theory paper.

This eLearning option lets you learn where and when you want, and at your own comfortable pace. By opting for online learning you can also eliminate the need for taking days off from work to attend a physical class.

With the eLearning platform, you can track your progress and invest more time in the areas you need to emphasize while speeding through the chapters where you have greater knowledge or confidence. Some built-in assessments are designed to help you test your knowledge. You will be able to relaunch each module after the test and try again if you want to.

Once you confirm your booking on the refresher package for your eLearning course you will be activated and you will receive an email notification with your login details. You will have 60 days from the date of purchase to complete the course.

While your course will be marked as complete once all modules have been passed, you can go back and revise any topic within the 60 days. Completing the eLearning course allows you to note any topics that you found difficult so you can highlight them and seek clarification during your face-to-face session.

  • Module 5: Destructive Testing/Quantitative and Qualitative - Destructive tests available to establish the mechanical properties and soundness of welded joints

What will I learn during the half-day Practical face-to-face training?

Candidates will be required to complete a Pipe or Plate inspection as part of their practical examination. During this half-day refresher training session, the lecturer will guide you through the assessment method and reporting, as per the CSWIP examination requirement. You will have time to practice on the samples and brush up on your skills and/or use the time to seek clarification on the topics you found difficult throughout the theory eLearning course.

 

What is the renewal process?

All CSWIP Welding Inspector and Senior Welding Inspector certificates should be recertified at the 10-year point. You can submit your renewal or recertification application up to 6 months prior to the expiry of your certificate. You are required to sit an examination at the 10-year point.

To start your recertification process you should do the following steps:

Complete a recertification application request online

Once your application is received by TWI Certification Ltd, you will be contacted and sent the relevant renewal documentation

You shall then submit the requested documents and evidence in soft copy via email to TWI Certification Ltd.

Once your documents are received, your submission will be assessed by TWI Certification Ltd. If approved, you will be notified that you can sit the recertification exam. At this point, you shall contact one of our training centers to book your examination slot.

Upon successful completion of the exam(s), a notification will be sent to TWI Certification Ltd, who, upon receipt of this notification, will issue a certificate.

Once received, the submission is assessed by TWI Certification Ltd. If successful, a certificate (with a new certificate number) will be issued.

Please note certificates can take several weeks to be issued from receipt of the initial notification by the examination body.
