TWI Thailand has strengthened its commitment to advancing engineering excellence by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thailand’s Department of Skill Development (DSD). The signing ceremony, held in Bangkok, marks a significant step toward developing a highly skilled workforce aligned with international industry requirements, while also celebrating the first cohort of Thai welders to achieve globally recognised certification.
Transforming Skills into Global Opportunities
At the heart of this collaboration lies the integration of the CSWIP (Certification Scheme for Welding Inspection Personnel) framework into Thailand’s national skill development ecosystem. Widely respected across the global energy, construction, and infrastructure sectors, CSWIP certification serves as a benchmark for quality and competence.
Through this initiative, TWI Thailand aims to ensure that Thai welders are not only technically proficient but also equipped with internationally recognised credentials. This combination of practical expertise and formal certification enhances employability and opens doors to opportunities in both domestic and global markets.
Recognising Early Success: Collaboration with TNS
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to welders from Thai Nippon Steel Engineering & Construction Corporation Ltd. (TNS). These professionals successfully completed the CSWIP Welder Qualification Test (WQT) under the SEASEP programme.
This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of aligning international certification standards with real-world industry requirements. By bridging the gap between training and employment, the initiative ensures that certified Thai welders are fully prepared to meet the rigorous demands of global industrial projects.
Building a Future-Ready Workforce
As part of its strategic roadmap, TWI Thailand has outlined plans to conduct 4–6 certification cycles annually in partnership with the Department of Skill Development. This initiative is expected to train and certify over 100 Thai workers each year, creating a steady pipeline of highly skilled professionals ready to contribute to key industries.
Driving Industry Growth Through Collaboration
Looking ahead, TWI Thailand remains committed to expanding its partnerships across both public and private sectors. By fostering collaboration and investing in workforce development, the organisation aims to play a pivotal role in elevating Thailand’s engineering capabilities on the global stage.
This partnership not only reinforces Thailand’s position as a hub for skilled labour but also highlights the transformative power of internationally recognised certification in unlocking new career pathways and driving industrial growth.
