TWI SEA recently conducted a technical engagement session with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) teams in Pulau Pinang and Kedah on 6 and 7 October 2026. The sessions provided an opportunity to share TWI’s technical expertise, engineering capabilities, training and certification pathways, and advanced inspection technologies, while strengthening knowledge exchange with industry and regulatory stakeholders.
The sessions offered valuable insights into TWI’s capabilities across engineering, asset integrity management, inspection, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and professional competency development.
Engineering, Software and Asset Integrity Expertise
The sessions provided an overview of TWI’s engineering and consultancy capabilities, including solutions supporting asset integrity, inspection planning, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. Participants were also introduced to TWI’s digital and software capabilities, including RiskWISE and PSAIM-RBI, which support risk-driven decision-making, inspection programmes, and asset integrity management.
TWI’s experience in supporting asset owners, operators, and regulatory bodies across the Asset Integrity Management (AIM) sector was also highlighted, including technical support for PSTT and SSI applications.
Risk-Based Inspection and API 580
A key focus of the sessions was Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) and API 580, providing participants with an introduction to risk-based methodologies and the roadmap for personnel competency development.
The discussions also highlighted how TWI Services supports clients globally through asset integrity management, inspection planning, risk-based approaches, and compliance with relevant industry and regulatory requirements.
Welding, NDT and Professional Certification
Participants were introduced to internationally recognised certification pathways covering CSWIP, PCN, ASNT, and other industry qualifications. The sessions also explored opportunities for professional development and competency development, helping industry personnel strengthen their technical knowledge and qualifications.
Equipment Demonstrations and Hands-on Experience
The engagement included practical demonstrations and hands-on trials of advanced inspection and welding technologies, including:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
- Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM)
- Advanced and Robotic (AR) welding equipment
These demonstrations provided participants with practical exposure to technologies used to support inspection, integrity assessment, and improved asset reliability.
Strengthening Technical Competency and Industry Collaboration
The sessions provided a valuable platform for technical knowledge exchange and discussions around emerging industry needs, competency development, inspection technologies, and asset integrity management.
TWI SEA would like to thank the teams at JKKP Pulau Pinang and JKKP Kedah for their warm welcome, active participation, and engaging discussions. Special thanks also go to Fattcy Chemicals Malaysia (FCM) and the NUR Power team for their support in facilitating and scheduling the sessions.
The engagement reflects TWI SEA’s continued commitment to supporting regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders through knowledge sharing, technical expertise, professional training, and innovative inspection and asset integrity solutions.
TWI SEA looks forward to building on these discussions and continuing to strengthen technical competency, collaboration, and industry best practices across the region.
