TWI Southeast Asia welcomed representatives from Invest Selangor to its Shah Alam headquarters for a strategic visit aimed at strengthening collaboration in workforce development, technical training, and industrial innovation across Selangor.
The visit introduced the Invest Selangor team to TWI Southeast Asia’s facilities, technical capabilities, and internationally recognised training programmes while identifying practical opportunities for deeper engagement with the Selangor State Government, vocational and higher-education institutions, and Selangor-based industries.
During the tour, delegates visited TWI’s specialist training and laboratory facilities, including the Underwater Inspection Training Centre, the AR-enabled Welding Training Centre, and laboratories dedicated to welding inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and plastics welding. The visit showcased TWI’s expertise in delivering industry-focused training alongside advanced engineering and inspection services.
Discussions focused on several areas of potential collaboration that support Selangor’s workforce and industrial development agenda. These included participation in the Selangor Career Outreach (SCOUT) programme, the expansion of TWI’s Zero to Hero welding programme, and opportunities to provide internationally recognised technical qualifications that enhance employability and address industry skills gaps.
The meeting also explored the Selangor Lab Partnership Programme and ways to connect TWI’s technical expertise with the state’s growing aerospace and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) ecosystem. Areas of interest included advanced inspection technologies, materials engineering, joining technologies, and manufacturing innovation.
With over 35 years of presence in Selangor, TWI Southeast Asia remains committed to supporting the region’s industrial growth through skills development, technology transfer, and collaborative partnerships. The visit marks a positive step towards building stronger links between government, education, and industry to develop a highly skilled and future-ready workforce.
