TWI Thailand Delivers Welding Inspection Training at KMUTT

Fri, 11 April, 2025

On 24–25 March 2025, TWI Thailand conducted a CSWIP 3.0 Visual Welding Inspection course at the Department of Materials Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). Delivered under the Southeast Asia Skills Enhancement Programme (SEASEP), the course brought together both students and lecturers to build vital technical and safety skills aligned with global industry standards.

The training was part of TWI’s continued mission to equip the next generation of engineers with relevant, hands-on expertise that enhances their employability and workplace readiness. The inclusion of the IOSH Working Safely certification, a key component of SEASEP, further strengthened the course by embedding internationally recognised safety principles into the learning experience.

Creating a Future-Ready, Safety-Skilled Workforce

The training at KMUTT contributes directly to SEASEP’s mission to:

  • Develop a safety-skilled workforce accessible to industry
  • Encourage safer working practices, reducing risks and incidents
  • Support the integrity and longevity of critical infrastructure
  • Improve career opportunities for under-represented and disadvantaged groups

Through this initiative, students gained valuable insight into real-world welding inspection techniques and workplace safety—core competencies that are increasingly in demand across engineering, manufacturing, and construction sectors.

Strengthening Academia Through Lecturer Participation

The involvement of KMUTT lecturers added a powerful dimension to the training. Their participation supports academic upskilling, enabling them to integrate practical industry knowledge into their teaching. This approach ensures that the impact of the training goes beyond a single session—creating a ripple effect that benefits future students and contributes to long-term improvements in engineering education and industry practices.

TWI Thailand is proud to partner with KMUTT and other leading institutions to bridge the gap between technical education and industry expectations. Through SEASEP and similar initiatives, we remain committed to developing capable, confident professionals who will lead Thailand’s industrial future with skill and safety at the core.
