TWI SEA Partners with MAIPs to Empower Asnaf Community

Mon, 28 April, 2025

In a significant step toward uplifting the socio-economic standing of the asnaf community, TWI South East Asia proudly participated in the “Majlis Raikan Syawal MAIPs 1446H/2025M”. The event was graced by the Crown Prince of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and held at the MAIPs Office grounds in Pengkalan Asam, Kangar.

This special occasion celebrated Syawal while recognizing zakat donors who contributed through salary deductions in 2024 and marked the launch of a strategic collaboration for the MAIPs Asnaf Transformation Academy (ATAM).

Accompanying His Royal Highness was the Crown Princess of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, alongside the Chief Minister of Perlis, Tuan Mohd Shukri Ramli, and the State Executive Councilor for Islamic Religious Affairs, Ustaz Muhammad Azmir Azizan.

During the ceremony, strategic contributors such as Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Hospital Tuanku Fauziah, and Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA) were honored for their outstanding commitment to zakat collection initiatives.

More notably, the event witnessed the announcement of key training programs under ATAM, where TWI SEA will deliver the Advanced High Skills IR 4.0 Training Program in Welding and Non-Destructive Testing. This program, valued at RM1,733,000, will empower 60 selected asnaf participants with cutting-edge technical skills aligned with Industry 4.0 standards.

Through this initiative, TWI aims to equip participants with internationally recognized qualifications, opening pathways for sustainable employment and self-sufficiency in the competitive industrial sector.

The Asnaf Transformation Academy (ATAM) project is a collaborative effort with other esteemed organizations, including Walta Centre of Excellence (WCOE), Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) Northern Region, and Kulim Advanced Technologies Sdn Bhd, each contributing specialized programs to build professional competencies within the asnaf community.

Speaking at the event, MAIPs Chief Executive Officer, Haji Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor, emphasized the importance of sustainable development for the asnaf:

“The effort to empower the asnaf should not be limited to aid provision alone, but must also include long-term capacity-building strategies that are sustainable and rooted in a sense of shared responsibility.”

The event concluded with a festive Aidilfitri feast, specially prepared by 10 asnaf participants who had earlier benefitted from MAIPs’ entrepreneurship development initiatives—standing as a testament to the transformative impact such programs can have.

TWI SEA is honored to support MAIPs’ mission and remains committed to delivering high-quality, industry-driven training solutions that transform lives and drive positive community impact.
