SEA Celebrates World Culture Week 2025

Wed, 28 May, 2025

The Southeast Asia (SEA) offices of TWI came alive during World Culture Week 2025, as teams across the region came together to celebrate the rich heritage, food, and traditions that define the vibrant multicultural landscape of Southeast Asia.

On Wednesday, 21st May, SEA offices took part in the “Color & Flavor of My Culture Day”, a highlight of the week-long celebration. Employees proudly wore traditional attire representing their cultural roots and shared iconic local dishes that brought people together through stories, smiles, and flavors.

A Culinary Tour of SEA

The event was a feast for the senses, with colleagues showcasing beloved dishes from Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisines—each a symbol of identity and community.

From Malay tradition, the spotlight was on Nasi Lemak, Malaysia’s national dish. Featuring fragrant coconut milk rice, sambal, fried anchovies, boiled egg, peanuts, and cucumber, it offered a perfect balance of richness and spice. The dish was not only a favorite among locals but also a delicious discovery for colleagues from other regions.

Representing Chinese culture, the team served Dumplings and Char Kuey Teow. The dumplings, with their savory fillings wrapped in delicate dough, were a hit, while the wok-fried Char Kuey Teow—flat rice noodles stir-fried with prawns, egg, bean sprouts, and soy sauce—added a smoky, comforting touch to the spread.

Indian cuisine was celebrated with Pani Puri and Putumayam (String Hoppers). Pani Puri, a popular street snack, offered a burst of tangy and spicy flavors with its crispy shells filled with flavored water, chickpeas, and potatoes. Putumayam, served with coconut and gula melaka (palm sugar), provided a sweet and nostalgic end to the meal.

A Day of Pride and Unity

More than just a food fair, the day was a powerful reminder of the unity in SEA’s diversity. From traditional outfits to shared laughter over childhood food memories, TWI’s SEA team embraced the spirit of cultural appreciation and inclusion.

World Culture Week 2025 in SEA was a celebration of what makes the region unique—and what brings us all together. As the TWI family continues to grow across borders, moments like these deepen our understanding of each other and strengthen the bonds across cultures and countries.

Here’s to celebrating the colors, flavors, and stories that make TWI truly global.
