TWI collaborates with YSD to enhance TVET in Malaysia

On Tuesday 30 May, Eur Ing Prof Tat Hean Gan the Managing Director of TWI Technology S.E.Asia attended the ‘Sambutan Hari TVET 2023’ organized by Yayasan Sime Darby with the theme of Empowering Youth for High-Value Jobs. Alongside Prof Gan were also present, Mr Ghazale Hashim, Mr Fauzi bin Mohd Kassim and Mr Mohd Marzuqi bin Mohd Dalim.

The ceremony was officiated by YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin, Minister of Higher Education. In his speech, the YB Minister of Higher Education emphasized the need for collaboration between the industry and the Ministry in order to enhance the development of TVET in Malaysia, as the amalgamation of the two parties is necessary for tackling the current issues and challenges.

Since 2021, TWI has collaborated with the Yayasan Sime Darby sponsoring the training and upskilling of 150 students who wish to pursue a career in the welding and inspection industry.

The training courses include practical welder training for up to 6G positions, CSWIP Visual Welding Inspection, appreciation of basic NDT, as well as the Oil and Gas Safety Passport (OGSP) by NIOSH and the CIDB Green Card training courses. In addition, all candidates will be undertaking English language lessons, preparing them for employment on international projects.

TWI is committed to maintaining its relationship with Yayasan Sime Darby and will do all possible in the coming years to enable Malaysian youth to change their lives by gaining valuable skills, backed up by globally recognized certification.
