New changes in CSWIP Welding Inspection course and exam

Wed, 09 February, 2022

From the 1st of April 2022, the CSWIP-WI-6-92 Welding Inspector scheme document will be changed to the 16th Edition. This change will alter the CSWIP - Visual Welding Inspector (3.0) and the CSWIP - Welding Inspector (3.1) programme syllabus and examination structure. These positive changes are tailor-made to the industry's relevance, ensuring TWI training courses remain second to none in its field of expertise.

There are minor amendments to the practical element and a greater detailed theoretical approach of the training and examination for an enhanced training experience. Besides the examination, the training course content is also updated to bring it in line with the above changes.

Candidates looking to undertake a retest(s) on a previously failed part(s) have twelve months from the initial examination date to do so according to the old scheme and initial examinations from the 01st of April will be on the new scheme. Ten-year renewal examination participants are highly advised to attend a minimum of one-day refresher training with an authorized TWI lecturer before undertaking their examination(s).

All TWI regional offices have full-time invigilators on standby. This means upon completion of a course, the examination can be conducted at ease on the same week. However, several locations have embraced remote invigilation services (RIS), which entails the examinations to be conducted at a later date.

Candidates trained on the old format from now until the end of March 2022 and do not sit their exam before the document change (1st of April 2022) will be expected to undertake the new examination format. Therefore, please plan your training schedule wisely and do not hesitate to contact a TWI near you for more details.

For more information and inquiries on the newly enhanced training format and the scheme requirements for the Certification of Visual Welding Inspectors, Welding Inspectors, and Senior Welding Inspectors (fusion welding) per the requirements of BS EN ISO 17637, please check out the scheme document here and get in touch with us at inquiry@twisea.com.
