Collaboration of TWI and Ministry of Education Malaysia

On Thursday 11th of November 2021, TWI Malaysia hosted the ceremony of signing the memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Malaysia represented by the Vocational Technical Education and Training Division (BPLTV) of the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and TWI Malaysia at its facilities in Shah Alam.

According to the signed agreement, TWI Malaysia commits to support BPLTV with setting up Centre of Excellence Vocational College as well as embedding CSWIP for welding & CSWIP 3.0 syllabus for all students in 52 colleges nationwide and training of the employed trainers/lecturers for the said colleagues.

The event was initiated with the recital of prayers by Mohd Hasrinizar Rosali. Dietmar Kok, the Deputy Regional Manager of TWI Malaysia, welcomed the guests and delivered a speech. In his speech, he pointed out TWI Malaysia’s mission of supplying trained and skilled employees, developing the next generation of industry specialists, and offering career growth opportunities for clients.

“This collaboration will boost TVET training activities in the country and we believe that this MoU proves beneficial for the Malaysian workforce and Malaysia as a whole”, he said.

Next, Hajah Zanariah Binti Haji Ahmad, the Director of the technical and vocational education division of the ministry of education Malaysia (BPLTV) took the podium to deliver her speech.

In her speech, she highlighted that BPLTV believes that TWI Malaysia’s expertise in welding technologies is going to enhance the competencies of vocational college students and lecturers in an effort to produce a skilled workforce for the industry, especially in the field of welding. The cooperation is expected to provide space for upskilling of instructors as the train of trainers (ToT) as well as industry-based learning skills through on-the-job training (OJT).

After the signing of the MOU and exchange of gifts, the event ended with a tour of TWI Malaysia’s facilities.

Malaysia’s 12MP plan aims to achieve the mission of a high-income nation through efforts to produce quality and highly skilled human capital to meet the needs of the industry. Among the initiatives to achieve this mission, is to strengthen the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs through professional certification of international standards.

Over the years, TWI Malaysia has had several successful partnerships with the Malaysian government and respective agencies. It has been dedicated to contributing to the development and enhancement of the country’s TVET training capabilities through implementing its expertise in welding and inspection training and certification and will continue to work closely with the industry to develop a skilled workforce that can meet the needs of the industry and earn high incomes.
