Is it for me?

This course is for personnel with limited or no previous experience of these processes but keen to learn them, including maintenance staff (responsible to install and repair plastics pipe systems), welding engineers and engineering apprentices

What will I learn?

Introduction to common thermoplastics (PVC, PP, PE, PVDF); key processing techniques; joint preparation; defects and how to avoid them; process control; inspection and testing; health and safety; practical butt fusion, socket fusion and electrofusion welding in polypropylene or polyethylene

 What will I leave with?

  • To understand practical welding - butt fusion, socket fusion and electrofusion
  • To identify plastics materials
  • To implement procedure control and safe operation
  • To understand weld properties
  • To identify faults/defects and how to avoid them

What else should I know?

An examination leading to CSWIP Certification can be provided following this course if required.

Certification in Plastics Welding
