Engineering Excellence in Action: NUWANDINDA CHRIS

Wed, 25 February, 2026

In the high-risk, high-precision environment of Uganda’s oil and gas sector, quality is not optional - it is mission-critical.

For NUWANDINDA CHRIS, an accomplished NDT Coordinator at Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation, quality assurance is more than a responsibility - it is a professional calling.

Currently supporting the Tilenga Oil Project in Uganda, Chris oversees the coordination of critical non-destructing testing (NDT) activities including RT, UT, MT and PT inspections.

His multifaceted role involves reviewing and approving procedures ensuring inspector competency, supervising site inspections, and liaising with clients and TPI agencies to ensure compliance that is aligned with international standards.

With a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Chris built his career progressively within major EPC and oilfield projects.

Raising the Bar with CSWIP Welding Inspector training and certification

Committed to continuous professional development, Chris recently undertook the CSWIP Welding Inspector training programme offered by TWI Middle East, citing that,

“CSWIP 3.1 aligns with my technical background and my commitment to quality and safety in welding inspection. The certification represents a high industry standard, and I want to strengthen my expertise in welding procedures, defect identification, and quality control.”

Self-funded and driven by ambition, Chris invested in the programme, determined to formally validate his expertise and elevate his professional credibility within international oil and gas projects.

Impact on Career and Employer

By training and achieving the CSWIP Welding Inspector certification, Chris will strengthen both his professional capability and project assurance outcomes:

  • Enhanced technical validation
  • Greater inspection authority
  • Increased responsibility on site
  • Improved compliance with international welding standards
  • Stronger quality governance across major oilfield developments

Chris added, “CSWIP 3.1 will significantly enhance my career progression by validating my technical knowledge and inspection skills. It positions me for higher-level roles in welding inspection and quality control.”

His next milestone? Upgrading to CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector to further advance into senior quality leadership roles.

Training Experience

Chris describes his learning experience as both professional and impactful:

“The lecturer was very knowledgeable and experienced. The facilities are well-equipped and suitable for the training.”

He strongly recommends TWI as a training provider, citing high professional standards and industry-aligned course delivery.

About the Training Programme
