High-power ultrasonic cleaning

The technologies behind our automated, high-power, fouling removal and prevention system were ten years in development, resulting in the creation of a cutting-edge solution for solving problems related to fouling removal and prevention in different industries.

High frequency ultrasonic wave vibrations are used to create microscopic cavitation bubbles that implode violently, generating high pressure, force and temperature that dislodge the fouling from the attached surface.  The technology can accommodate various structural geometries, and optimises bespoke power electronics to drive the ultrasonic transducer topology for cleaning and prevention applications.  Particles can be removed from both internal and external surfaces using either direct contact or contact-free.

The technology is harmless to structural integrity and employs the type of wavelengths that are also used in non-destructive testing and medical scans.  The waves propagate through the structure from a single attachment location, enabling areas of restricted access to be cleaned.  The transducers’ topology and geometry are optimised to accommodate different types of surfaces whilst maximising the vibrations and, consequently, their cleaning performance.  This means that transducers can be attached at different locations in a structure, thereby targeting areas with higher concentrations of fouling such as pipes or curved sections.

The cleaning process is automated by bespoke software and designed, manufactured and validated power electronics.
